We spent the entire day in Dubrovnik. We met a guide, Karmen, at 9:30am to take us on a tour of Old Town, including several Game of Thrones sites. The tour was very good and informative. The only place we didn’t go inside of was Fort Lovrijenak. The exterior, which we could see from below, was used as the Red Keep. The interior was used for several things, including King Joffrey’s Nameday Tournament. It looked like a pretty decent climb, and we were already planning on climbing/walking the walls of Old Town, so decided to skip climbing up to the “Keep”. (I’ll do a separate Game of Thrones post that collects all the locations together without other distractions.)
Ploce Gate – Cersei walked across this bridge and through gate during her “walk of shame”.

Modesty rail – a priest had extra stone added so that people couldn’t see up nun’s skirts as they descended the stairs.

After the tour, we split up and did different things. Teresa and I went to a beach with Ella and Dražen, then climbed the walls of Old Town and walked 3/4 of the way around. (You can walk the entire circumference of Old Town, but the back side wasn’t as interesting, so we climbed down once the opportunity presented itself.)

We had a delicious panini at Panini Bar Franco Romano (highly recommended!) We split a (huge) “Delizioso” panini: focaccia, mortadella, stracciatella (cheese), pistachio cream, and crumbled pistachios.

In the evening we took Ella and Dražen to dinner at Fratellos. The view and the food were both fantastic. We had a lovely evening, eating and telling stories for over 2 hours.
Our Uber ride to the restaurant was unconventional.
